Twenty days…
So it looks like it has been twenty days since I have posted here. Alot has gone on. My mother-in-law had another small TI and my husband tangled with a semi truck, totalling our van. Thank the Lord nobody was hurt.
What kind of cardio have I been doing? Well, when my MIL was in the hospital instead of taking the elevator, I took the stairs, 6 flights. (I hope that is the right word.) Other than that I have been boxig, which I have decided is not necessarily a total body workout. At least not for me. I maybe ambidexterous in a lot of things, but for some reason I am a right handed boxer. The muscle in my right bicep has increased, while my left side has not. I want a proportional body.
My oldest daughter has been trying to talk me into doing a workout video with her, but honestly, and here is one of those excuses, how can a person do an intense workout with another body in the room, not to mention 3 other children and two Great Danes?
On the up side, I am now at 192.5, where is The Biggest Loser when I need inspiration?

Christina, your dilemma is shared by many! I used to love to exercise. After my child was born, I worked out for an hour and a half every day but Sunday. I also played tennis, and occasionally softball and basketball. Now, I am lucky to do anything. During the spring and fall months I bicycle, usually about 15 miles twice a week, but during the winter, nothing!
I’ve tried aerobics but I hate it. I like weight training and kickboxing but they are not practical for my house. (I accidentally kicked one of the cats last time I tried).
So, I have to think of some type of exercise that will work for my lifestyle and give me the cardio that I need and that will shape and tone my body. And I guess you need to find yours.

Yay, Fairie! Four pounds is great!
How often do you weigh? I know some say do it once a week, but for me, I found that I needed to weigh every day. That probably sounds obsessive, and it probably is, but I was able to see that even though I might weigh the same on Friday as I did on Monday, my weight had dipped in the middle of the week. Knowing it had gone down at some point, always kept me motivated to keep going.
As of January 2005, I have lost approximately 50 pounds. The pounds came off slowly due to some diet changes and to me walking about twenty minutes almost every day.
Notice that everything is pretty loosely stated. I knew if I did it, I would have to do something that I could live with for the rest of my life, so all the changes I made were small ones, and as a result, the weight loss was slow but steady.
Unfortunately, I quit losing about half way through 2006. It was shortly after my mother passed away, and I’m sure that had a lot to do with it, but at least I haven’t gained any back to speak of. Maybe five pounds, give or take depending on the day.
I will be checking in on your progress, and I hope that your efforts with spur me on to try again.
By the way, my goal for 2007 would be to get down to your starting weight.

Laurie,
Walking I find is the best. Of course with winter, I use the cold as an excuse. I do love to walk. When it is nice I try to walk 2 miles a day at a good pace. Gotta have good walking shoes though.

Donna,
That is magnificent. I will let you in on a little secret. I am OCD, that should tell you anything about how often I way myself. I feel like I am cheating if I post my weight any more than once a week. By the way, I hit 190 yesterday.

Sorry I’m so slow to respond. Here’s a belated Yippee!! for the 190. I’m sorry to say I have completely stopped the daily walks. Very disconcerting after almost two steady years of walking. Something in my brain has obviously short-circuited. : ) Keep going, and maybe, just maybe, I will eventually start to follow your lead.
